Board elects ASBSD leadership

ASBSD President Duane Alm was elected to serve a second term as the head of the state school board association during the ASBSD Board of Directors Meeting held Jan. 10 in Pierre.

"I'm honored to serve another term as President," Alm said. "I look forward to working with a hard-working executive committee, our forward-thinking board and gifted staff."

Alm has served on the 18-member ASBSD Board of Directors since 2003. Last November, he was re-elected to serve a four-year term representing school board members and school districts in Northeast South Dakota.

The ASBSD Board of Directors elects its own officers.

As an elected officer, Alm joins a five-member executive committee made up of ASBSD elected leadership.

Joining Alm on the executive committee will are ASBSD First Vice President Susan Humiston, Edgemont, ASBSD Past President LeRoy Hellwig, Sisseton, and newly elected ASBSD 2nd Vice President Neil Putnam, a board member from Mitchell.

ASBSD Executive Director Wayne Lueders, Pierre, serves as the fifth member of the executive committee.
