School Bell Award

The ASBSD School Bell Award honors non-school board members serving statewide public education in an exemplary fashion. It is the most prestigious award the association gives to non-board members. Awarded only when there are worthy candidates, the School Bell Award recognizes an individual who has had an impact on South Dakota public education in one or more of the following areas:
Consistently promoted the welfare and achievement of children of South Dakota’s K-12.
  • Worked to secure and provide quality facilities and equipment.
  • Worked to secure quality teaching and learning.
  • Worked toward the introduction and passage of legislation to enhance K-12 education opportunities.
  • Worked toward the provision of adequate funding for K-12 education in South Dakota.
  • Stands out as a leader for improving public K-12 education in South Dakota.
  • ASBSD presents its School Bell Award at the Awards Banquet during the ASBSD/SASD Annual Convention held Aug. 6-7 in Sioux Falls.
